Elementary (2nd-6th)

This program is designed for kids at the 2nd to 5th grade level. 6th graders are also welcome to participate if they choose to do so. Students will be divided into two different classes: younger elementary (2nd-3rd grade) and older elementary (4th-6th grade). Coursework will be age-appropriate. No additional texts are needed, and most work will be completed in class.

Science Exploration

Students will conduct various science experiments and projects dealing with the human body and basic chemistry.

History & Geography Projects
Students will gain practical, in-class experience creating presentations and projects on different topics, primarily focusing on US History and Geography.

Life Skills & Writing Class
This course will alternate life skills and writing instruction each month. Writing Class will be taught during the months of September, November, and March. In October, February, and April, the focus will be on various Life Skills. Writing topics covered are: how to organize your essay, correcting and enriching your essay, and how to develop a research paper. Work expectations will be age-appropriate. Life Skills taught will include basic nutrition, money/banking, entrepreneurship, and baking.

Conversational Sign Language (1st Semester)
This class will only be taught during the first semester. The lead tutor is a sign-language interpreter in PSE (Pidgin Sign English). It is a combination of ASL and English, and is the language used most frequently by the deaf community. Students will be introduced to the basics of introductions, culture, expressions, adding descriptions, people, and food.

Music (2nd Semester)
This course will only be taught during the second semester. Students will learn basic music-reading skills and rhythms, and learn fun and educational songs, such as the 50 Nifty United States. Children will also work on a musical production that will be performed at the end of April.
